When To Book Your Engagement Session

When To Book Your Engagement Session

There’s many things to check off your list as you start planning your wedding and making choices for your special day. Picking a venue, finding a planner, booking a photographer, the list goes on and on. But where does taking your engagement photos fit into the mix? As photographers, we have a few opinions on this and have put them together to help you decide when to book your engagement session!

What to consider when planning your engagement photo session:

Save The Dates

If you are sending save the dates, you will want to make sure these are ready to send out about 6 months before your wedding date. And if you are planning to include engagement photos on these, it is important to keep in mind the time it will take your photographer to edit these. Make sure to ask them up front about their turnaround time and availability!

Time Of Year

Is it a busy time of the year for your photographer? What does their turnaround time look like at the moment? Do you feel like you are too busy at the moment to feel relaxed at your session? These are all things to consider when picking a date to take your engagement photos!

Location

Will you be shooting your engagement session somewhere that requires reservations? Some places like this can be booked up to three months in advance. If you have a place in mind, there is good chance your photographer may have information on it. Always start with asking them!

Backdrop

Depending on the vision you have for your photos, the season of the year you take your photos in can have a big impact on how they come out! They can determine the colors, what you wear and how busy a certain area may be!

This may feel like just another thing added to your wedding planning list, but getting your engagement photos scheduled early will bring both you and your photographer less stress!

What To Do With Your Engagement Photos

Engagement photos are for much more than just save the dates! While hanging them in your home is always a great idea, we love showing up on wedding days and see our couples engagement photos displayed at their ceremony and reception.
